Inyi Youths Meet over the murder of Late Sunday Arinze by the Policeman

Inyi Youths Meet, Call on the Authorities of the Nigeria Police and the First Bank of Nigeria PLC to adequately Compensate the Arinze Family of Umuchime, Enugu Inyi over the gruesome murder of their Son -Late Sunday Arinze.

In what many has described as the boldest step in the right direction, the National President of Inyi Towns Union (ITU) -Dr Chike Madueke (Agbalanze) on Friday, June 28 convened a meeting of Youth Representatives drawn from the Nine Inyi villages of Umuome,Enugu Inyi, Obune, Umuagu,Amankwo, Agbariji,Alum, Akwu and Nkwere.

The meeting was aimed at reviewing the situation in Inyi following the aftermath of the last Tuesday's gruesome murder of Mr Sunday Arinze by a Police guard attached to the Inyi Branch of the First Bank of Nigeria PLC and to chart the way forward for Inyi.

The meeting which held at Dr Chike Madueke's country home in Agbariji Inyi had the Member representing Oji-River State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly -Hon Jeff Mbah,Leader of Oji-River Legislative Council -Hon James Tabansi, the Admin of Mmam River development center -Hon Onyebuchi Sopoluibe,Vice Chairman,Inyi Towns Union -Chief Rufus Onyekwena, the Oji-River Mobile Police Unit Commander -DSP Sunday Eremi and a representative of First Bank of Nigeria PLC -Mr Obiora Aniamalu in attendance.


Also at the meeting were Ozo Barr Anayo Onwumechili and Chief Godwin Anoliefo who represented the Inyi Amalgamated Council of Presidents-general.
The meeting also had in attendance Dr Madu of Dora Memorial Hospital, Oji-River.

In his opening Remark,Dr Chike Madueke formally condoled with Inyi youths over the sad loss of Mr Sunday Arinze and regretted the unfortunate incident that led to his death.
Agbalanze thanked the youths for their Patience even in the face of provocation and  pleaded with them to continue to remain calm and law-abiding while also assuring that Justice would take its full course.

In a related development, the member representing Oji-River State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly -Hon Jeff Mbah thanked Dr Chike Madueke for convening the meeting.
Hon Mbah equally thanked the youth Representatives and lauded them for speaking with one voice during the last Tuesday's unfortunate incident.
Hon Jeff Mbah sympathised with the youths and also informed the gathering that the members of the Enugu State House of Assembly would pass a resolution on the matter as they reconvene on July 2.

The visibly angry Hon Mbah called for the immediate dismissal and prosecution of the Police man who killed Mr Sunday Arinze while also calling for the adequate compensation of the Arinze Family by the Authorities involved.
Hon Jeff Mbah who expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor service offered by the Inyi Branch of First Bank charged the Bank to turn over a new leaf.


Responding, the Oji-River Mobile Police Unit Commander -DSP Sunday Eremi described the action of the affected Police Officer as unprofessional even as he maintained that the duty of the Police is to protect Life and not to destroy it,to enforce the law and not to break it, to maintain law and order and not to cause trouble.

DSP Eremi said the Police Force regretted the June 25 unfortunate incident and informed the youths that the affected Police Officer was currently under detention at the Homicide department of the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department while also assuring everyone that Justice would take its course.

Mr Obiora Aniamalu who represented First Bank of Nigeria PLC condoled with the Arinze Family, Inyi youths and Ndu Inyi in general and confessed that the bank had learnt from its mistakes while also assuring that they will improve on their services to their customers.

Hon James Tabansi,Hon Onyebuchi Sopoluibe and Ozo Barr Anayo Onwumechili also took time to address the youths.

*In their reaction, the youths were unanimous in their demand for adequate compensation for the Arinze Family by both the Authorities of First Bank Nigeria PLC and the Nigeria Police*.

ITU National President -Dr Chike Madueke promised to convey their demand to the Authorities while also appealing to the youths to continue to remain calm and law-abiding.
Agbalanze assured that the late Sunday Arinze will be given a befitting Funeral.

Dr Chike Madueke (Agbalanze) called on the Authorities of First Bank to re-open the Bank while also assuring that Peace has finally returned to Inyi

The National President offered a heavy refreshment to the youths.

But while this was going on,Dr Chike Madueke also met with some selected Inyi Youth Leaders where he informed the Youths that the ITU was working on the modalities to set up the Youth Wing of the Inyi Towns Union as provided by the Constitution of the Town Union.
