The Enugu State House of Assembly inaugurates its information and communication committee.

 The Enugu State House of Assembly inaugurates its information and communication committee. 

It was first of its kind in the 7th Assembly as Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, the  Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly inaugurated the information and communication committee, ably chaired by Hon. Geoffrey Anayo Mbah, the honourable member representing Oji River State Constituency.

The inauguration started with introduction of committee  members,   members of the press and invited dignitaries/ guest.

In his opening remark during the inauguration activities , the Hon  speaker, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, thanked the honorable members, members of the press and invited guest for making out time to honour this August activity, that is the official inauguration of the information and communication committee. He stressed that communication and information are the life wire of every organization and further implore every member to support the  chairman of the committee Hon. Geoffrey Mbah  to showcase the house to  the world. He promised to support the committee in anyway he can in order to achieve a positive and greater result. He finally dedicated the committee to the glory of God.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the committee, Hon Geoffrey Mbah thanked the speaker for the opportunity created for them  to handle the crucial committee of information and communication.

He described the committee as the image maker of the house, as the committee will determine the relationship that will exist between mostly the legislative and executive as well as judiciary arms of the  government.

He  assured the speaker  of their readiness to strengthen  the existing relationship between the committee and the press, and other arms of government.

However, he  promised to come in with more innovation that will take the 7th Assembly to greater heights.

He described the members of the committee as vibrant men,   full of ideas,  and waiting to exhibit their potentials.

For the press, while commending them for the good works they have been doing, he urged them to continue same especially in  making sure that what comes out of the house is reported the way it is, and on time.

He cautioned that the press should never in any way give  impressions that do not exist.

He said that, the State has a governor, a leader, who  invests so much strength,  resources for peaceful coexistence in the state and urged everyone to pursue peace.

A member of the committee and the immediate past chairman of the committee, Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajioffor maintained that the committee will continue to report what people need to know and that fake news will never emanate from them,  though he urged everyone to report what he called the ideal news.

The permanent secretary,  ministry of information and communication, Chief Christian Mbah expressed their readiness to work with the committee and ensure accurate reportage.

Other dignitaries that graced the occasion include; members of the press, the administrator of Oji River East development center Mr. Ogbonna Christian Onuaguluchi, former permanent Secretary on Chieftaincy affairs Chief Mrs Sylvia Onwuvuemeri, former vice chairman of Oji River and immediate past liaison to the governor of Enugu State on local government, Sir Ephraim Offia. Mrs Lois Chidinma Mbah wife of Hon. Geoffrey Mbah and host of others.
The events ended with light refreshment.
