Petition from the people of Umuomaka, Nkwere and Owere Awuchi Villages of Ubaha Autonomous Community in Awlaw which was addressed to the Office of the Deputy Chairman and dated June 21,2019

The visit followed a Strong-worded petition from the people of Umuomaka, Nkwere and Owere Awuchi Villages of Ubaha Autonomous Community in Awlaw which was addressed to the Office of the Deputy Chairman and dated June 21,2019.

In Umuomaka,Hon Engr Ezenwa Chukwudi was received at the Village Hall by High Chief Edwin Onyezuluba (Ogene Ubaha), the Chairman of Umuomaka village -Chief Cletus Umeh, the Chairman of Nkwere village -Chief Jude Marire and Barr Ben Udeaja.

The People of Umuomaka,Nkwere and Owere Awuchi Villages had complained in their petition against the people of Umueme who they allege are scheming to produce the next Igwe of Ubaha Autonomous Community and had called on the Government to intervene in the Spirit of Justice and Equity.

Chief Edwin Onyezuluba (Ogene Ubaha) is the Spokesman

It is on record that the late Igwe of Ubaha -HRH Igwe Elieza Okafor hailed from Umueme village where the current President-general of Ubaha Autonomous Community also comes from.

High Chief Edwin Onyezuluba spoke on behalf of the three villages where he took the Deputy Chairman to  Memory Lane as it affects the Igweship tussle in the Community with Chief Ernest Uzoigwe corroborating all that he said.

Responding, Hon Ezenwa Chukwudi commended the People of Umuomaka, Nkwere and Owere Awuchi for toeing the path of Peace by bringing their petition to the Council and enjoined them to continue to remain Peaceful and Law-abiding.
The Deputy Chairman assured that the Council would set up every necessary machinery in motion for the conduct of an election for the Igweship of Ubaha Autonomous Community within the next two months even as he promised that a new Traditional Ruler will emerge in line with the existing Rotational Principle of the Community.
Hon Ezenwa Chukwudi also assured the people that he would meet with his Boss to fix a Date for the Election after due Consultation with the State Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs.

Responding on behalf of the good people of the three villages,Chief Jude Marire and Barr Ben Udeaja thanked Hon Ezenwa Chukwudi for his prompt response to their petition and pledged the continuous support of the people of Ubaha Autonomous Community to the People-oriented Leadership and Purposeful Administration of Hon Harrison Okeke.
