The Enugu State Forest Guards are gallant, able bodied Enugu state indigenes between the ages of 25-40 years with letter of identification from their community leaders, verified background check by Department of State security and screened for physical Fitness.
Short Service Tactical training , intelligence gathering, combat operations , radio communication codes and signalling were conducted by experienced service men from different arms of Nigeria security forces.
260 buses , 260 motorcycles, night vision gadgets, long range distance binoculars ,radio communication and licensed, registered firearms have been provided for forest patrol operations.
RULES
1. Traditional Cattle rearing is done with sticks. AK47 is for Armed Forces use only. It is lawful to Shoot at sight anyone spotted with AK47.
2. Safety of life of citizens and residents of Enugu state is paramount. No one armed with illegal rifle of any calibre can be disarmed without use of REASONABLE force to demobilise or neutralize the person.
3.Cross community and cross state cattle herding is prohibited in Enugu State to reduce farmer/herder conflicts.
4. Forest Guards shall notify Agro Rangers on all cattle herders movement.
5. Nigeria is a sovereign nation with immigration laws. Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu state command shall receive notifications for arrest of any French speaking herder for proper verification of immigration status.
6. Hard drugs and narcotics promote criminality, as such sales or use is criminal offence in Enugu. Users of illegal drugs and narcotics caught in the forest shall be handed over to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution.
Security of lives, properties and welfare is primary purpose of government. Gov ugwuanyi has appointed former AIG Okorie from Enugu to join in the security committee while former IGP Ogbonnaya Onovo is security consultant to Enugu state. Both men served and distinguished themselves prior to retirement as gallant officers of Nigeria Police Force who received awards for crime fighting.
Enugu state is the Heartland of Igbo Nation and the Choice state of residence and investment in Nigeria owing to security and hospitality of the people. Investors are welcome to Enugu.
